Dundee Centre Premier Inn re-opened its doors to the public following an extensive yearlong refurbishment.
The revamped design, by LMA Architects, involved the demolition of the restaurant and saw the refurbishment of the existing 40 bedrooms as well as the addition of 108 new bedrooms and new restaurant. The completed hotel comprises 148 bed rooms with a 180 cover Beefeater restaurant which has panoramic views across the River Tay. Construction works were completed by Ogilvie Construction.
Located on the quayside, the 4 storey hotel sits next to the new V&A museum, the Discovery Visitor Centre and Dundee railway station.
Stephen McGhee, Principal of LMA Architects stated, “We are delighted to see the successful completion of what was a challenging project for the design and construction teams to build 109 new bedrooms and a restaurant round an existing hotel block and complete the construction works during infrastructure works and construction of the adjacent V&A museum and Railway Station.”
He added “This has been an exciting time to have worked in Dundee given the amount of construction work taking place on the quayside and the investment flowing into the City. Credit must also go to the officials at Dundee City Council who worked positively with the team from design stages to completion.”
