Planning consent for a new £6.5 million Premier Inn, designed by LMA Architects, for the ski resort of Aviemore has been approved.  The project won the backing of the Cairngorms National Park Authority’s planning committee in Ballater this week.

The 60-bed hotel will bring much needed extra accommodation to the town as well as 25 new jobs.

The hotel is located at the town’s south end, on the site of a long since demolished service station on Grampian Road.

Stephen McGhee, Principal of LMA Architects said “We are delighted that the scheme has received consent on what is a very challenging site and location”.

He added “Discussions with Local Authority and the Cairngorms National Park had been extensive, however, we are pleased that the Planning Officials acknowledged in their report to committee that ‘the design, detailing and landscaping are of a good quality which will enable it to help enhance the landscape character of this approach into Aviemore over time’.
